Once you download and install this application on your phone, tap the SoundHound button in from the music source, it will grab the digital footprint of the song, and matches it with its database. After the successful match, it will fetch you the result with artist information, lyrics, song name, along the audio song. It uses Hondify’s advanced AI technology to discover the music. You can even search for songs by simply singing or by humming. We practically tried to search songs by singing and humming, and it worked well. However, you need to sing the correct tune.
Musixmatch is another nice application for recognizing a song. The application has been developed for both mobile and desktop users. If you are using Android System, you may download it from Google Play Store and for the iOS users, you may download it from the Apple app store. And the song identification feature is an added feature. To do this, you need to tap on the “identify” button on the taskbar below.
After that, tap on the Musixmatch logo to record the song which you want to identify and it will synchronize the song with its database and fetch you the result with song name, artist info, and lyrics.
This app is originally designed for finding lyrics to any song. However, it has an added feature of song recognition. The application has been developed for both Android and iOS devices. You can download it from Google Play Store or Apple App Store are per your requirement.
After installation of the app on your device, tap the music button on the right-bottom corner of the app. Now hold your mobile in front of the song which you want to identify. In the same manner, it will listen to the song and match it with its database. Then it will fetch the result for you, with the name of the song, artist name, and lyrics. It has the play song feature, which is integrated with the YouTube app.
This is another application that has been developed for Android devices. If you are using an Android device, you may download it from Google Play Store. The working principle is somewhat similar to the others in the list.
After the installation is over, tap on the search button. And the app will start listening to the song and match it with its database. So if you want to use this service from any other system, where you wouldn’t be able to install the app or for one-time use and you don’t want to install the app, you can use the service of Midomi which is a completely web-based application. And the more interesting part is that it can even recognize songs by humming or singing also, which is available in SoundHound.
After browsing the webpage, just tap the button and hold it in front of the music you want to identify. Or you may simply sing the song or hum the tune. It will listen to the song and match it with its database. After a few moments, it will fetch you the result with the song name, artist info, and lyrics. If you want to listen to the song, you may do so. It is synchronized with Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and so on.
2. AHA Music
AHA Music is another web-based music recognition service. However, it has extensions for Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers. That means if you want to use this application with easy access, you can install the extensions on your browser.
To use the service, you need to navigate to the website of AHA Music and click on the record button at the center, when the song is playing or you may sing or hum the song rather. It will record the song or the humming tune and match it with the database. After that, the web application will fetch you the result with the name of the song. And if you want to know in detail about the song, you may hit the “View details” button.
We practically tried to identify songs using AHA Music and found the result convenient. We tried in both ways, that is by recording a song that is played on another device and by singing and humming. All the ways we found convenient results. But if you are singing or humming the song, to recognize it, make sure that you are singing the right tune and your vocal sound is audible enough to get recorded by your PC.
